# Fees & Billing

This page explains how we handle fees, retainers, and billing so you and our team are aligned before we open a file.

## Quick summary

- We do not publish fixed prices on our website because fee amounts depend on each client’s facts and the category of application.
- To get a personalized fee estimate, please complete our Free Assessment form or contact our head office. We evaluate each file before giving a written estimate.

## How we determine fees

We evaluate fee estimates on a case-by-case basis. When you contact us we will:

1. Ask you to complete our Free Assessment so we can understand your immigration category, history, and documents.
2. Review the information you submit and classify the work (example categories: simple inland application, family sponsorship, federal Express Entry file, complex appeal or judicial review, business/investor application).
3. Provide a written fee estimate and describe whether the matter will be billed as a flat fee (common for straightforward application packages) or on an hourly basis (more common for appeals, hearings, and litigation-style matters).

Because each file is different, we do not publish flat-fee tables on the public site. If you want a quick evaluation and a tailored quote, complete the Free Assessment form or contact the office directly (see contact info below).

## Retainers and engagement

- We open files only after we have: (a) agreed on the scope of work, (b) provided a written fee estimate, and (c) executed a signed retainer agreement. The retainer agreement will describe scope, fees, and work deliverables.
- We generally require an initial retainer deposit before beginning substantive work. The deposit amount and whether it is credited against hourly invoicing or a flat fee will be specified in the retainer agreement.
- If a matter changes in scope (for example an appeal is added or extra procedural steps are required), we will notify you and provide an updated estimate and, if applicable, request an additional retainer.

## Billing cadence and invoices

- Billing cadence (for hourly matters) or milestone invoicing (for some flat-fee matters) will be stated in your retainer agreement. Typical options include monthly invoices for time-based matters or staged invoices tied to milestones for complex files.
- Each invoice will list time entries, disbursements, and any third-party fees (for example government filing fees, translation costs, courier charges) when applicable.
- Government filing fees and third-party costs are separate from legal fees unless otherwise stated in writing.

## Payment methods and currency

- We accept payments in Canadian dollars.
- Please tell us your preferred payment method when we prepare the retainer agreement so we can include the instructions there.
- To finalize the engagement we will include accepted payment methods in the retainer. Common options include electronic bank transfer (e-transfer), credit card, or bank transfer.
- If you need earlier payment options or alternate arrangements, raise this during the Free Assessment or at intake.

## How to get a fee estimate (step-by-step)

1. Complete the Free Assessment form: https://moyal.com/free-assessment/. Fill every section so we can assess your eligibility and identify the appropriate application route.
2. We will review your submission and reply with an initial assessment and a request for any additional documents we need to prepare a fee quote.
3. After we agree on scope, we will send a retainer agreement and an invoice for the initial retainer deposit (if applicable).
4. Work begins after we receive the signed retainer and initial payment.

## Common questions

### Do you charge the same amount for every file?

No — each file is different and we provide quotes after assessing your case.

### Can I get an estimate without sending documents?

We can give a preliminary estimate after the Free Assessment, but a firm quote usually requires review of supporting documents.
